How It Works

An average residential roof (2,000-2,500 sq ft) takes a 4-person crew 2-3 days for asphalt shingles including tear-off. Metal roofing takes 3-5 days due to precision cutting. Tile and slate can take 5-10+ days because each piece is individually placed and the heavy weight requires more careful handling. Steep pitches (over 8/12) slow work significantly and require safety equipment. Weather is the biggest schedule risk — rain stops work immediately since the deck must stay dry. Plan for 1 weather day per 3 work days during spring/fall. Most contractors will not work if rain probability exceeds 40%. Protect exposed deck with tarps overnight.
